Vacancies for Community Councillors

Freuchie Community Council has 2 vacancies for Community Councillors and would like to hear from you if you would like to be part of a team seeking to improve Freuchie for the benefit of local residents.

Community Councils are voluntary organisations, established by local government legislation and made up of people who have an interest in the wellbeing of their community. They are volunteers, although democratically elected, and their main purpose is to represent the views of their local community to the local authority and other public bodies. In particular Community Councils have the right to be consulted on planning and licensing applications within the area.

We also lead on projects in the village, often in partnership with other community groups. Examples of the types of project we have been involved in this year include the refurbishment of the playpark, fundraising for the school playground, an event to recognise all the great work which volunteers do in our village and the Christmas extravaganza of events culminating in the Christmas Lights switch on and light show.

If you would like to find out more contact the Janice laird , CC Chairperson at fcc.chairperson@gmail.com Closing date for expressions of interest is 10th February

Freuchie Community Action Plan 2024 - 2028

Freuchie's Community Action Plan is based on feedback from residents on issues that matter to you and things you would like to see improved in the village. Copies have been distributed to  households in the village but if you can't find your copy or didn't receive one you can click on the blue button below for an electronic version. The Action Plan will form the basis of the Community Council's activities for its term of office. We hope you find it interesting reading and  will help toward making it happen in whatever way you can.

The UK's Telephone Network is Going Digital

By January 2027, the old analogue network will be switched off and replaced by new digital landlines which will work using broadband. It is important that we help support members of our community, especially the elderly and more vulnerable, who may not be aware that change is coming. Many older people may not have broadband and could be confused if their telecomms provider tries to change their contract. Those who use a telecare device such as personal alarms, pendant alarms, lifeline devices and home care monitoring systems may find that their equipment is not compatible with the new digital technology. Users should be encouraged to make contact with their landline provider for support as soon as possible.

Community Food Larder

Can you help?

The Lumsden Larder needs your support. If you can spare a few items of non perishable goods it would be much appreciated. The Larder exists to give our neighbours a helping hand when they need it. Donations can be left in the Foodbank box in the Spar or in the box in the Book Exchange at Lumsden Hall.

Beware the Scammers

Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in coming up with new and inventive ways to con you out of personal details so they can take money from you or so they can pretend to be you. Please be wary of any unsolicited contact either online, by email, letter or telephone. If you feel you are being pressurised into something then please break off all contact. This website will regularly post Trading Standards Scam Share Bulletin so you can read about some of the latest scams that are appearing across the country.

Why not check out the Ask Silver Scam Checker, an AI powered scam checking tool. Users can upload a screenshot of any suspicious texts, emails or websites and receive a breakdown of any red flags and suggestions for next steps on staying safe. Sign up at www.ask-silver.com
