Community Support

We are in this crisis together

If you turn on the TV or read a newspaper you can't get away from reports on the rising cost of living. Costs are spiraling out of control and we are all having to pay more for food shopping, gas and electricity, transport and mortgages. People often feel ashamed at having no money to put their heating on or to put food on the table but please don't be. We are in this crisis together and the community of Freuchie will support each other.

Community Larder has been set up in the Lumsden Hall and the partners behind this initiative (Freuchie Community Council, Freuchie Primary School Parent Council, Freuchie Parish Church and trustees of Lumsden Hall) would encourage all local residents who need a helping hand to take whatever they need from the larder. If you can afford to purchase an item or two for the larder then please donate through the organisations above or by leaving the items in the storage box in the Book Exchange in Lumsden Hall or the Foodbank box at the Spar.

The Community Larder will stock dried and tinned goods :

  • cereal
  • soup
  • pasta
  • rice
  • tinned tomatoes/pasta sauce
  • lentils,beans and pulses
  • tinned meat
  • tinned vegetables
  • tea/coffee
  • UHT milk
  • fruit juice
  • biscuits

We will also stock essential non-food items like toiletries and hygiene products where we can.

The larder can be found in the foyer of the Lumsden Hall.
